Kirk Allen Sorensen

Kirk Allen Sorensen, 61, entered into rest on Friday, July 11, 2014.

Kirk was born on August 15, 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska and was of the Lutheran faith. He held many different careers in his life, one being a glass blower at Disney World. He became a welder and welder instructor for Broward Community College. He worked for the Millwrights Local 1026 Union in South Florida where he served as Recording Secretary and Business Representative. Kirk then worked for the local International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Ocmulgee Lodge 1034 where he was Recording Secretary and was also a delegate to IAM & AW District Lodge 131. For the last fifteen years, Kirk was a heavy equipment mechanic for Graphic Packaging Corporation in Macon.

He loved spending time with his family, fishing, golfing, and sci-fi movies. Kirk was also a Mason of the Macon Masonic Lodge No.5 F&AM.

His parents, Louis Bernhardt and Virginia Kirkbride Sorensen, preceded him in death.

Kirk's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Connie Moody Sorensen of Warner Robins; daughter, Kelly Sorensen Davis (Ricky) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Hannah, Cheyanne, Billy and Ella Davis; sister, Christine Byrd (Dr. Norman Byrd) of Villa Park, California; and mother-in-law, Voncille Hoffman of Chatom, Alabama. He leaves behind many other beloved family members including aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thanks to his sister, Chris and cousin, Tom Kirkbride for coming to Warner Robins to support the family.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial was private. Kirk's family had a reception for family and friends at The Farmhouse at McCullough following the service.
